Who We Approve

If you've been driving,

we want to talk.

Bulldog's program is built for one specific driver: experienced owner-operators who've been turned down by banks for the wrong reasons — or trapped in a carrier's lease-purchase trying to find a real way out.

Real Approvals

What actually gets approved.

Names changed, details real. These are the kinds of drivers we say yes to every week — the kinds banks send away.

Marcus T.

525 FICO. Nine of twelve trade lines currently negative. Around $4K in active collections (mostly medical). A handful of old unsecured charge-offs. Recent declines from two other lenders.

Fifteen years CDL-A. Five years as an owner-operator, previously running under his own authority. Current on his GM Financial auto loan. Navy Federal member. Bank balances trending up. Already an existing Bulldog customer — paid as agreed.

Prior truck's transmission went. No rig, no income. Banks wouldn't touch the 525 — even with his history.

Outcome Approved in 48 hours. 2021 International LT625, $6,420 down, $2,140/mo, 30 months. Back on JB Hunt freight the next week.
Leon R.

646 FICO with a Bankruptcy Plus score over 1100. Four active auto loans. 95% revolving utilization. Multiple recent credit inquiries from lenders he'd already been shopping.

29 trade lines. Zero 30/60/90 day lates — ever. Eleven years CDL, seven years running his own trucking LLC on Landstar freight. Existing Bulldog customer who'd already paid one lease as agreed.

Adding a truck to grow his fleet. Other lenders balked at a fifth auto loan given his utilization — even with clean pay history.

Outcome Approved. 2021 International LT625, $6,540 down, $2,180/mo, 30 months. Expansion truck on his Landstar run, not a replacement.
[Driver Name]

[The credit reality and the disqualifying piece — probably "currently in a carrier lease-purchase" which most banks won't touch.]

[The reality of his current program — miles he's run, revenue, why the carrier program won't actually deliver title. Why the trajectory is solid.]

[The math finally caught up with him on the carrier program. He needed an actual path to ownership.]

Outcome [How we got him out and into a Bulldog truck. Terms.]

The Pattern

Banks underwrite the past. We underwrite the present.

Look at the stories above and the pattern is clear. The same driver looks like a no to a bank and a yes to us — because we're looking at different things.

What banks underwrite

  • FICO score from your worst year
  • Collections from 2019
  • Bankruptcies, even if discharged
  • Number of recent inquiries
  • Auto-decline at 600
  • Pulled credit, ignored the rest

What Bulldog underwrites

  • Years driving for your current carrier
  • Payment history on your current truck
  • Monthly gross revenue, last 12 months
  • Why you came to us right now
  • Your stability — address, phone, family
  • Credit as one factor of fifteen
Honest About the Bar

Not for everyone — and that's the point.

We turn down applicants every week. Here's who isn't a fit (yet) so you don't waste your time — or ours.

Brand-new drivers without a CDL, or with less than a year of solo driving experience. Get some miles first, then come back.
Company drivers looking to make the jump for the first time. Owner-operating is a different game. We need to see you've already done it — under your own authority, as a 1099 contractor, or inside a carrier lease-purchase.
Drivers who can't put $6,000 down and have no path to it. The down payment isn't about credit — it's about skin in the game. We'll talk through options if you're close.
Drivers with an active repossession on their current truck. Call us in 12 months once the smoke clears. Until then we can't help.

Think you're a fit? Let's find out.

Tell us a little about your situation. A real person calls you back today — same day, no runaround.
